Downtown Hannibal is the place to be this coming Halloween Weekend. For the third year, the Historic Hannibal Marketing Council, as well as other community organizations have planned a full weekend of Halloween activities from family fun to a night on the town. The party begins Friday, October 25th, continues on Saturday, October 26th, and ends with safe Trick-or-Treating on Thursday, October 31st.

THE FAMILY FUN

Bring down the family on Friday, October 25th for a Night Hike through Sodalis Nature Preserve.Participants will enjoy a two hour tour and learn about the history of the mines, the story of Somalis, and of the endangered Indiana Bat, that the Sodalis Preserve is home to. Hikes are free, but reservations should be made through the Hannibal Parks and Recreation at 221-0154.

The family fun continues Saturday morning with Pumpkins in the Park at the last Central Park Farmers Market of the season from 10-11:30am. Bring your own decorated pumpkin to be exhibited in the park. Eugene Field Pirate Pride Singers will perform at 11:30am and prizes will be awarded at noon.

The Downtown Merchants invite you back downtown during the evening for the Third Annual Living Dead Windows on Saturday the 26th from 5-8pm. Each window downtown comes to life with a Haunted Halloween Scene. Stroll downtown and interact with the live scenes that make downtown Hannibal the place to be during Halloween.

Downtown Hannibal’s friends from 2 Besties Biscuits and the Northeast Missouri Humane Society bring the 3rd Annual HOWLoween Pet Parade at 6pm on Saturday, October 26. Gather your furry friend and their best costume and meet in front of Chocolaterie Stam at 5:45. Participation is free and all pets must be non-aggressive or anxious, vaccinated, picked up after, and on a leash near an adult at all times. The parade will commence at 6pm heading from Chocolaterie Stam on North Main Street to the Music Under the Stars Stage in front of the Boyhood Home where costumes will be judged and prizes awarded.

The Hannibal Jaycees Halloween Parade will begin at 6pm on Broadway by the Save-a-Lot Parking. The Jaycees will lead the parade and turn right down South Main while the rest of the parade will turn left down North Main Street. Floats will be family-friendly and candy will be passed out throughout the route.

THE PARTIES 

Kick off your weekend on Friday, October 25th with the Halloween Street Dance and Costume Party. The perfect opportunity to show off the costume you’ve been planning since last Halloween. Dance up and down Main Street while the Main Street DJ plays your favorite hits. Costume contests will be held at local bars. Be sure to drink responsibly and use a designated driver! The event is free to the public.

Live Musicians will play throughout downtown all weekend. Mike Moore will perform at The Main Street Wine Stoppe on Friday the 25th at 7pm. Relax with guitarist, Pat Jones at Cave Hollow Winery on Saturday the 26 from 2-5pm. On Saturday Evening, come downtown and enjoy The American Standard perform at the Mark Twain Brewery at 9pm. 

THE TRICK-OR-TREATING

Main Street Trick-or-Treat Hannibal, Missouri

There is not one, but FOUR different trick-or-treating opportunities for children in downtown Hannibal starting on Saturday Morning from 10-12pm with the Hannibal YMCA’s 2nd Annual Boo Bash Trick-or-Treat Trail at Sodalis. Stop at 30 different trick-or-treat destinations along the trail hosted by businesses and community organizations. The event is free to the public.

On Thursday, October 31st on Halloween Evening come back for three trick or treating events. The free downtown trick or treat trolley sponsored by the Historic Hannibal Marketing Council will run from 5-8pm and shuttle between each event.

The 3rd Annual Main Street Trick or Treat will run from 5-8pm. Downtown and other community businesses will set up along Historic Main Street to pass out candy. The Tom and Becky’s will host Halloween games in the Boyhood Stage. Petting Zoo and Pony Rides will be available, The Hannibal Arts Council will host a free make and take spider craft. Big trucks and the POET corn trailer will be present for kids to play on. And plenty of candy will be available! Free event to the public. 

The Hannibal Jaycees will host their Annual Trunk or Treat at their lot at 320 S 3rd St. Jaycee Members will have decorate trunks and pass out candy. Free event to the public.

The Hannibal Police Department will host their 39th Annual Safe Kids Halloween Party. The purpose for this event is to create a safe place for children from birth thru age 12 and their parents to celebrate Halloween. This event is free to the public.

THE SCARES

The Jaycees Warehouse of Nightmares runs Every Friday & Saturday in October from 7:30pm-midnight, October 31st for Blackout Night from 7:30-10pm, and November 1st and 2nd from 7pm-midnight. Plenty of scares to be had this Halloween Season at The Hannibal Jaycees Warehouse of Nightmares. Scares and Thrills await you at every twist and turn of the house. With over 20 rooms and the house completely redone...EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED! Zombie Paintball and Escape Rooms.

The Haunted Hannibal Ghost Tours runs Every Night at 7pm - Reservations Recommended. What’s scarier than non-fictional scary stories that actually happened in Hannibal? Tour the spine-tingling stops of Hannibal’s History and the paranormal. From murder, ghost stories, and more you’re sure to hear the Hannibal’s Horror Story. Each tour ends with an exploration of Old Baptist Cemetery where you can search for your own signs of paranormal activity. Call 573-248-1819 for more information.
